Kolache Dough
- 1 package active dry yeast
- ¼ cup warm water
- 1 cup milk warmed
- ¼ cup sugar
- ¼ cup butter melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
1. Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large bowl. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
2. Add milk, sugar, melted butter, salt, and 2 cups of flour to the yeast mixture. Stir until smooth.
3. Gradually add the remaining flour to form a soft dough. Knead on a floured surface for about 6-8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down dough and divide into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and flatten slightly.
6. Wrap each dough piece around a sausage link, pinching the seams to seal. Place on a greased baking sheet.
7. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
