- 4 cups thinly sliced potatoes
- 1 cup sliced onions
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- 2 cups milk
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour, salt, and pepper until smooth. Gradually add milk. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly; cook and stir until thickened, about 2 minutes.
Arrange half of the potatoes in a greased 2-qt. baking dish. Top with half of the onion and half of the sauce. Repeat layers. Cover and bake for 50 minutes. Uncover; bake until the potatoes are tender, 10-15 minutes longer.
