Ingredients

  • 2 Green plantains peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup Vegetable oil for frying
  • to taste Salt

Instructions 

  1. 1. Peel the plantains and cut them into 1-inch thick slices.
  2. 2. Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  3. 3. Fry the plantain slices for about 3 minutes on each side, until they are golden.
  4. 4. Remove the plantains from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  5. 5. Using the bottom of a glass or a tostonera, flatten each plantain slice.
  6. 6. Return the flattened plantains to the hot oil and fry again for 2 minutes on each side, until crispy.
  7. 7. Remove from oil, drain on paper towels, and season with salt to taste.
