Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 pounds beef chuck, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 large onions, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons sweet paprika
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 2 large carrots, sliced
  • 2 large potatoes, peeled and cubed

Instructions 

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the beef and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the beef and set aside.
  2. In the same pot, add the onions and cook until softened. Add the garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Return the beef to the pot. Stir in the paprika, caraway seeds, marjoram, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1.5 hours.
  5. Add the carrots and potatoes. Continue to simmer for another 30 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
  6. Adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve hot.
