Ham and Split Pea Soup Recipe

Main Ingredients
- 1 lb Dried split peas rinsed
- 1 lb Ham bone
- 1 Onion chopped
- 2 Carrots chopped
- 2 stalks Celery chopped
- 2 cloves Garlic minced
- 8 cups Chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon Thyme dried
- 1 teaspoon Salt to taste
- 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper to taste
1. In a large pot, combine the split peas, ham bone, onion, carrots, celery, garlic, chicken broth, thyme, salt, and pepper.
2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until peas are tender and soup is thickened.
3. Remove the ham bone, chop any remaining meat, and return it to the pot. Discard the bone.
4. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.
