Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 clove Garlic halved
  • 1 cup Dry white wine
  • 8 oz Gruyere cheese shredded
  • 8 oz Emmental cheese shredded
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Kirsch optional
  • 1 pinch Nutmeg grated
  • 1 pinch Black pepper freshly ground
  • 1 loaf French bread cut into cubes

Instructions 

  1. Rub the inside of the fondue pot with the garlic halves, then discard the garlic.
  2. Pour the wine into the pot and heat until hot but not boiling.
  3. Gradually add the cheese, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with the lemon juice to form a paste, then stir into the cheese mixture.
  5. Add the kirsch, nutmeg, and black pepper, and stir well.
  6. Keep the fondue warm over low heat and serve with French bread cubes.
