Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 2 pieces Steak (ribeye or sirloin) about 1 inch thick
  • 2 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper freshly ground
  • 2 cloves Garlic crushed
  • 2 sprigs Thyme optional

Instructions 

  1. 1. Preheat your cast iron skillet over high heat for about 5 minutes.
  2. 2. Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Rub both sides with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  3. 3. Place the steaks in the hot skillet. Sear for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until a brown crust forms.
  4. 4. Add crushed garlic and thyme to the skillet. Tilt the skillet and spoon the melted butter over the steaks for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  5. 5. Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer. For medium-rare, it should read 130°F (54°C).
  6. 6. Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.
