Greek Restaurants in Brisbane rated by their atmosphere, authenticity, unique presentation, the use of fresh and vibrant ingredients and service.
What is it about Greek Cuisine that makes it unique? It is not only the benefits of the Mediterranean Diet, but the secret to it is also tied to the people who consume it the most. Greeks believe eating together, sharing a plate over a meal and turning it into a social event of prime importance and a time to celebrate – simply being together. It is a natural form of therapy so to speak.
Let us go back to Greek cuisine itself. Greek Cuisine is rich in a wide variety of fresh vegetables, pulses and lentils, fish and seafood and wine. Lemons and Citrus in general, olives, olive oil, fresh herbs, and spices are also used in abundance. Greece is in no short supply of meat, but when dining out observe the creative ways greeks use vegetables in their dishes.
A Greek Restaurant should include into their menu as much of the authentic cuisine as possible, but also serve it in ways, that represent the culture well. A restaurant that sells Chips and ‘Yiros’ does not represent Greek Cuisine at all and therefore have not included any cafes that only sell ‘Yiros’ in this review. Greek Restaurants are rated by their Atmosphere, Authenticity in representing the cuisine, unique presentation, the use of fresh and vibrant ingredients and service.
Serving Authentic Cuisine since 2010, both restaurant venues are sleek and contemporary. Let the super gorgeous and efficient staff wait on you. I feel like a Queen dining, simply by the attentiveness and knowledge of the menu by the wait staff. I have my own food blog here as you can see, but dear lord those Crispy Zucchini Fritters are out of this world. They offer a multitude of sharing plates that don’t leave you feeling hungry. The food is authentic but surprisingly with a modern edgy touch that makes me want to come back and try for more.
If you would like a taste of what Greek ‘kefi’ is like, and if you haven’t heard of the term before, then Kefi is the spirit of joy, passion, enthusiasm and positive energy. Lefkas taverna gives you a glimpse of kefi though the positive, relaxed vibes you would find from the island of Lefkas. The owner, John shares authentic greek dishes that ‘tell a story’. The venue has recently expanded due to popular demand.
Greca, is the new kid on the block. Occupies a Brisbane Historic Shed, with Stunning City Views. Book in advance as with any new-comer Brisbane dining foodies, love to explore the new scene. If your expecting not to share your plate, then you are coming at the wrong place. Greca is best enjoyed when dining out and sharing a few drinks with friends – due to the menu, tasting the share dishes is a conversation starter and experiencing the dishes together is all part of understanding Greek Cuisine. The ambience is super and I feel quite romantic even though I’m sharing the space with a crowd.
